A software and applied-systems company studying how systems hold together: how the parts of a system work as one, and how that principle can be measured, engineered, and turned into software you can run and check.
Why the lab exists
It started with one conviction
Coherence Energy Labs™ began with a personal experience that left its founder convinced of something simple and stubborn: the things we study in separate rooms, physics, life, mind, and technology, are more deeply connected than our disciplines treat them. The same patterns keep reappearing across all of them: stability and alignment, signal and feedback, memory and error, collapse and restoration.
That conviction is a motivation, not a finding. The lab's discipline is the opposite of taking it on faith: to ask whether connection can be turned into something measurable, testable, and engineerable, and to keep belief strictly separate from evidence. The aim is not to replace existing science, or to force any worldview into equations. It is to build a clearer bridge between disciplines, so that what one field learns does not stay trapped in one room.
The core idea
Coherence is parts working together as one
A team can be coherent or fall out of sync. A living system can hold coherent rhythms. A piece of software can be coherent or incoherent. A decision system can preserve trust or destroy it. When coherence increases, systems become more stable, more organized, and easier to understand. The lab studies how that happens, how it can be measured, and where it can be applied.

The measurable idea under everything: one number for how well a system holds together, a shared objective across the stack, and an honest boundary for where it helps. Presented as engineering, not a claim about the cosmos.
Coherence Language
A programming language, compiler, and runtime for explicit effects, identity-aware systems, governed execution, and one-source multi-backend computation. The software substrate behind the whole stack, not just the site.
Products and systems
Turns coherence energy into systems and products that can be inspected and improved: an AI, private messaging, verifiable machine learning, discovery pipelines, hazard forecasting, and a cognitive architecture, at honest stages of maturity.
Live demos
Interactive demos that run the language and the systems live in your browser. Not the whole story, but inspection windows into how the work actually behaves.
What is real now
Early, but not empty
The lab maintains a working software stack, a growing set of applied systems and products, an open technical foundation, and a static site generated and hash-verified in Coherence Language itself. The site is designed to show what exists, what is still in development, and what is not ready to claim yet.

How we work
Claims only as strong as the artifacts behind them
The lab follows one rule: a claim is only as strong as the artifact behind it. Coherence energy, the software, the products, the demos, and the open questions are kept honest and separate on purpose. Internal consistency matters, but it is never treated as external proof. Public claims need public evidence, clear limits, and a path for others to check them. The lab is not here to ask for blind belief. It is here to build things that can be examined.

One unified vision, built end to end
Coherence Energy Labs was founded by Josh Philbrick, who works across the full stack: coherence energy, Coherence Language, the public site, the products, and the applied systems built on top. The company is founder-led by design. The work began as one unified vision, grounded in the conviction that things are more connected than we treat them, and is being built toward a serious software company that brings coherence-native systems into the world.
What comes next
Turning depth into clarity
The next stage is moving from a broad research archive into a focused public lab: clear research, clear software, clear applications, clear evidence, and clear boundaries. The longer aim is systems that do not hide how they work, that can be inspected, that can prove what happened, and that preserve coherence instead of destroying it, and, over time, a clearer conversation between fields that have stayed separate for too long.
